Crespiano's
main building is the church of Santa Maria Assunta, which took its
present shape in 1079 when king Otto I ruled over the region. The
architecture of this church was influenced by the style once fashionable
in Lombardy and in Lucca; along with San Giorgio's church in Pontremoli,
this is the only church in the region featuring suspended arches
along the walls, held by half-columns.
Not far from Linari one can see the remains of the Abbazia (Abbey)
di San Bartolomeo, an important stop for the pilgrims on the way
to Rome, now just a complex of ruined walls.
