Castelnuovo,
Vallecchia e Colombiera |
|
| |
The
territory of Castelnuovo Magra stretches between the Bettigna
stream and the Marciano canal. On the way up the hill towards
the town there are some typical mills, while the view stretches
over the Val di Magra. Centuries-old olive trees and large vineyards
alternate with green woods, forming a countryside that changes
in colour across the year. A typical product of this area is the
Vermentino DOC, a white wine with an intense bouquet produced
on the hills of Luni.

Vallecchia
The road up Vallecchia hills climbs first quite gently and
then steeper and steeper, offering a beautiful view over the Val
di Magra. Vallecchia lives on agriculture and is located at the
boundary between the forest and the fields; its center is full
of little fountains, narrow roads and of wood-and-stone buildings.

Molino
del Piano and le colline del Sole
Molino del Piano and the Colline del Sole (the Sun Hills) are
an intact area rich in vineyards; long paths wandering through
pine trees and chestnut trees lead to the park of this district,
in the middle of an uncontaminated countryside.

Colombiera
Colombiera is situated along the via Aurelia; it hosts a beautiful
villa, built in XVIII century and still belonging to the Baracchina
family.
