Vezzano
Ligure is situated in the lower part of the Val di Magra,
on a hill dominating the confluence of the rivers Magra and Vara.
Located between val di Vara and Sarzana's plain, Vezzano is at
the extreme east of Ligury. It is divided in two little villages,
Vezzano Superiore, or Soprano, and Vezzano Inferiore, also called
Sottano. The name of the Vezzano is surely Roman, and is related
to the word indicating the Vetii family's possessions.

In
the past, Vezzano has been an important node for trade and communication
between the Magra River and La Spezia; as a consequence, trade
has always been a major resource for the town. The other big resource
is agriculture: gifted with a mild climate, Vezzano area is particularly
suitable to grow olive trees and grapes.

the green hill hosting Vezzano Soprano it is possible to enjoy
an exceptional view, proof of the strategic importance of the
village; the view stretches from Golfo di La Spezia to the white
Alpi Apuane, passing through the valle and the confluence of Vara
and Magra rivers.
