Filattiera's territory is vast and particularly beautiful; it stretches between the mountains and the hills, left of the Magra. Filattiera features a typically agricultural landscape: on the valley floor a number of old terraces are still in use for raising corn and pasture; the rest of the land is occupied by farmers' houses.

The hills are scattered with beautiful villas, with fields of corn, barley and potatoes, with vineyards and with olive terraces. Higher on the mountain there are massive chestnut trees, beech trees and, on the peaks, green fields inhabited by flocks. Villages are usually very small and are located at the foot of the mountains or on the ridges. Each of them has its own characteristics, and they are made entirely in stone.
