Comano
is located in a narrow valley at the foot of Alpe di Camporàghena,
along the Taverne stream. This area's distinguishing feature are
the mountains, rising over 2000 meters high and covered with little
vegetation; the thin woods of this territory, however, are still
wild and uncontaminated.

This
scantiness of vegetation notwithstanding, the arboreous species
are much variegated; in autumn, the slopes of the mountain take
different beautiful colours. Paths are all over the region and
offer stunning views over the valleys. This typically Appenninic
countryside favoured cattle-breeding and chestnut-tree rising.
Trade, on the other hand, was never intense and tended to bypass
this mountain region, directed towards Emilia and Toscana.
