Casola
is located in the higher part of the Aulella river, on a terrace
surrounded by the Aulella and the Tassinaro streams. This territory
is a boundary region, being located between the Lunigiana and
the Garfagnana, and also between the Apuane Mountains and the
Apennines. This region owes its prosperity to the strategic position
of these valleys, at the junction between important roads that
link the north with the south of Italy.

An
important resource for this region has always been agriculture,
specialised in cereals and in the exploitation of large chestnut
forests. The territory of Casola is still uncontaminated and wild;
it offers beautiful hikes and suggestive views over the surrounding
valleys.
