The cylindrical tower on the top of the hill is what remains of the Malaspina Castle built in XI century. Not far from it, in an inaccessible place, there is the ruined castle of Gruppo San Pietro; it was the stronghold of the local Guelph masters who opposed the Malaspina power, with the help of Luni bishops.
